2021 LunaGaia ‘Agramante’ Grillo Sicilia DOP

From $20

Vibrant and savory. Opens up with lovely aromas of citrus blossom, mint, sage and white stone fruit. Juicy and round with ripe white peach, juicy grapefruit, cider apple and mineral with a bonus saline note on the finish.

Aromas of cider apple & citrus blossom.

Pairs well with goat cheese, risotto & grilled prawns.

Unlike other Sicilian varieties, Grillo is not an ancient grape: It was created in 1873 by agronomist Antonio Mendola by crossing two traditional native grapes: Catarratto and Zibibbo. Almost exclusively planted in the Marsala area and historically is of particular importance in the production of Marsala wine. ‘Agramante’ is named for the king of Africa and fiercest opponent of Charlemagne in the “Orlando Furioso” epic. The label depicts Orlando at Charlemagne’s court, protecting Paris from siege.
