Named for the majestic 130-year-old Black Mission Fig Tree that stands amongst the vines, this vineyard is located at the confluence of two waterways on the Quivira estate, Dry Creek and Wine Creek. This is an effusive Sauvignon Blanc with notes of citrus blossoms, melon, and minerals with crisp acidity.
FIG LEAF – When clearing the fields for the first plantings, the vineyard manager was using a bulldozer to clear the field. Original owner Holly Wendt was on the adjacent hillside and spotted the bulldozer as it made its turn toward the tree. It was a close contest with Holly sprinting down the hill as the vineyard manager and the bulldozer ambled toward the fig…but Holly won. Arms outspread, and voice at full pitch, she declared our ancient fig a sacred object. The vinerows were planted around it, and the staff at Quivira has been taking care of The Fig Tree ever since.
