The 2011 Cowhorn Viognier is an incisive, surprising white wine with qualities similar to those that earned the grape its own appellation in the northern Rhone. The flavors arrive first as aromas of cool tropical fruits, almond extract and vanilla bean. In your mouth the wine is instantly refreshing; the flavors lifting off like a dancer into the arc of a leap, framed securely by citrus acidity with the texture of raw silk. At table, it is a comely companion for anything savory.
