Inspired by the successful Syrah growing regions, Côte Rôtie and the Barossa Valley, Hommage represents a co-fermentation of Syrah and Viognier. A touch of aromatic Viognier lends a welcome “lift” and complexity to this wine and showcases exotic aromas of apricots and blackberries on the nose.
HONEY BEE – We host organic bee hives on the eastern edge of the Viognier vineyards overlooking Dry Creek. Bees buzz around by the thousands in the late afternoon as we work on the ends of the vine rows securing the vine arms to the cordon wires. It is the Viognier skins included in the fermentation of this special Syrah that gives it such a unique nose of balanced richness and floral elegance. Vines don’t need bees for pollination, but they almost certainly appreciate their company.
