Gran Fondo Wine was founded in January 2013 by Jeff Morgenthal. Jeff raised in the suburbs of New York City, had no cultural connection to wine growing up.

As he worked his way around restaurants in Colorado while simultaneously pursuing his passion of Bicycle racing, he realized at this time that wine and cycling shared a lot of synergy. His passion grew deeper with wine as he worked in better restaurants into his 30s and becoming a sommelier in the 90s after a summer spent bicycle racing in Basque Country Spain and working as a Sommelier at Michelin 3- star Arzak. Jeff still connects deeply with the wines from the countries with the deepest roots for racing bicycles- France, Italy & Spain.
