2022 SOFOS Red Blend

From $15

Red ruby color with violet hues. The nose has aromas of mature blackberries, raspberries and sweet spices. The palate has a well balanced acidity and a medium plus body; fragrant of fresh blackcurrant – blackberry fruit, red pepper and hints of black chocolate.

“The red SOFOS has a deep ruby color with aromas of plum, sour cherry and hints of truffle and oak. In the palate we found medium plus acidity, soft tannins and a great complexity of flavors such as dried plum, raisin and notes of wet leaves and tobacco. It is a quality red wine which is ready to drink but also with a good potential of aging. It combines the spicy and fruity aromas of the indigenous Agiorgitiko with the structure and the complexity of the famous Cabernet Sauvignon.” – Konstantinos Lazarakis

The 2010 SOFOS (ΣΟΦΟΣ, wise old man) Greek red wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Agiorgitiko. Greek wine has a history going back thousands of years and Agiorgitiko is a grape native to Corinth and one of the top 2 Red wine grapes in Greece.

One of the benefits to drinking a wine made from the Agiorgitiko grape is there are pretty good odds that you have not had another one recently. The SOFOS Greek Red does an excellent job of blending Old World structure with New World fruit forward flavors. A medium bodied, lower alcohol wine, but the rich, bold flavors give the impression the wine is bigger than it actually is. The SOFOS is a versatile wine, bright fresh flavors that are very approachable and easy to drink and more than enough structure for gourmet burgers or spicy fried chicken.

Enjoy with roasted beef, duck or a spicy pasta dishes
